Overview

As the Optical Engineer II at our Technology Research Center in Farmington Hills, MI., you will utilize your experience and talents to provide engineering, design, and development support for new product launches and development projects pertaining to the optics in exterior automotive lighting products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide optical design and development expertise for timely support on new projects of moderate size and complexity, implementation of new technologies, and all other assigned projects
  • Provide optical design related guidance and technical advice to project engineers and designers for new product development and production projects
  • Design and conduct tests, lab set up, data acquisition, data analysis, and other evaluations for prototype and pre-production hardware
  • Recommends and implements design changes to production products per prototype testing results
  • Researches and develops design solutions to automotive lighting engineering issues
Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering with courses in optics, mechanical engineering, and physics OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with courses in optics, mechanical engineering, and physics plus 3 years of experience in optical design and/or photometry
  • Experience in lab set up and testing methods
  • Experience in optical design and development within automotive parts manufacturing is preferred
