(September 9, 2020) – North American Lighting, Inc. (NAL) earns the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) 2020 Healthy Manufacturer Certification for its healthy workplace plan in response to COVID-19.

When the pandemic first broke in mid-March, NAL formed a COVID-19 management team to reestablish a workplace where team members felt comfortable performing their jobs safely. Company officials indicate all available resources were used to develop the NAL COVID-19 Playbook (Playbook) raising awareness of new health and safety guidelines, protocols and expectations.

“From the beginning, we have been deeply focused on keeping our team members, customers, visitors and suppliers safe while providing a workplace capable of meeting customer orders without interruption,” said NAL President and COO, Kirk Gadberry.

The Playbook covers a wide range of topics, including social distancing, personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning and disinfection, access control, on-site health screenings, virus exposure management, and training/communication.

After participating in training led by Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) instructors from the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center (IMEC) in August, NAL submitted its extensive Playbook for review. The IMA and IMEC deemed NAL’s Playbook impressive and certified the plan without recommendations for improvement.

“I was very pleased when we received this certification from IMA and IMEC confirming our Playbook met all of their healthy manufacturer requirements,” said Corporate Safety Supervisor, Carson Brown. “I think this says a lot about the team that drafted and implemented our prevention plan and their commitment to keeping our employees safe.”

With the help of NAL’s COVID-19 Response Teams, NAL’s facilities have been able to quickly adapt to changes from governmental agencies and to the evolving understanding of COVID-19 prevention and best practices.

While it is not a one-size-fits-all approach, NAL’s Playbook includes practical procedures based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), OSHA and World Health Organization (WHO).
