Hello again. Thank you for spending a few minutes here so that I may share some thoughts on our current circumstances.
The challenges of 2021 seem to continue without interruption.

NAL plans to open a new facility in Mattoon this fall to make room for additional business in its three existing Illinois production facilities.

For the most part, NAL sales remain reasonably strong.  Our customers are reacting to strong consumer demand and working to re-establish normal inventory levels.

Recently, Indiana State University’s (ISU) Board of Trustees approved the naming in perpetuity of the North American Lighting (NAL) Student Success Center in the College of Technology.

As most of you know, we’re beginning the roll-out of an online health screening process. Public fear of autonomous vehicles is inevitable. But so is their eventual widespread acceptance. The link between the two is education.

First, with regard to mask concerns, we have made significant progress in our pursuit of an optimal cloth mask option. We have conducted additional trials at each NAL plant, received feedback as to which mask provided the greatest level of comfort, and have placed orders for the favored mask.

North American Lighting, Inc,’s (NAL’s) Alabama team members achieve 1 million hours without a lost time injury. The plant logged 1 million safe hours from November 9, 2019 to June 27, 2020 and have continued logging hours beyond this benchmark.

North American Lighting, Inc. (NAL) earned the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) 2020 Healthy Manufacturer Certification for its healthy workplace plan in response to COVID-19.

At NAL we will strictly adhere to CDC guidelines for the protection of our team members.  Recently, and as a result of new information about the virus, the CDC has updated their guidelines regarding quarantining and testing.  NAL has followed suit by updating our COVID-19 Playbook to reflect these changes, most notably about return to work parameters once a team member becomes infected. 

While the situation in the automotive industry looks glum and the pandemic has brought numerous problems, there is a glimmering hope for the future.  We can be sure that new opportunities are rising out of the crisis, waiting to be discovered.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the chance to visit some of our manufacturing locations. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed seeing and speaking with so many of our Team Members after such a long time. The most common question I’ve been asked is, “How long are we going to have to wear these masks?” 

All manufacturing facilities are operating at this point. Team Members can request more details by contacting their Supervisors.

NAL’s Equipment Plant delivered its first batch of 3D printed face shields to local health care personnel in Illinois and will continue production to meet ongoing needs in local communities.

As circumstances continue to evolve in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, NAL is responding to the needs of the customers and communities we serve. An updated operations schedule for each production facility is listed below.

NAL fully supports the government’s initiatives to “flatten the curve” in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. With the health and safety of its Team Members and their families in mind, NAL has been implementing as many telework accommodations for Team Members as possible. NAL has also taken the lead from our customers and has instituted various plant shut downs to help stop the spread.

We have confirmed with our customers that they will be taking time out of their production schedules, therefore we are adjusting our manufacturing operations beginning tomorrow, March 21.

NAL is pleased to report that the potential Coronavirus (COVID-19) exposure at the Paris, Illinois Corporate office has resulted in a negative diagnosis for the employee in question.  We are very pleased at this outcome and happy to report that there has been no Coronavirus exposure in  any NAL facility at this time.

NAL has become aware of a potential COVID-19 exposure situation at the Paris, Illinois corporate office.  As a precautionary measure, the corporate office is currently closed and undergoing a thorough and professional cleaning to eliminate any potential biohazards.  We have asked corporate team members to work from home until further notice.
