April 9, 2020

Valued NAL Team Members,

I sincerely hope this message finds you and your families healthy and well.  As the Coronavirus situation escalates, our best wishes for your health are an ever-pressing concern.

These are certainly unprecedented times. Our customers have all announced that they will not produce vehicles in April, with tentative plans to restart production in May. That leaves NAL with no new model production and greatly reduced volume on service parts. Essentially, NAL will have zero sales in April. This has forced us to make some very difficult decisions in order to sustain operations as best we can.  Thank you for your support and patience as we navigate this crisis together.

NAL continues to monitor updates and guidelines for COVID-19 as well as our customers’ production schedules. We will be forthcoming on our situation, so please visit www.nal.com for any production schedule updates.  As it stands, NAL will continue limited service production at our plants with the Corporate and Farmington Hills Offices remaining closed. During this time, we will work on implementing new safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Right now, we are trialing temperature checks at Muscle Shoals prior to accessing the plant. We appreciate your cooperation as we evaluate this process.

Please remember, it’s important to continue following healthy guidelines and habits. We ALL have a responsibility to take the necessary precautions to ensure each other’s safety. As a reminder, healthy habits include:

  • Proper handwashing and sanitizing of common areas on a regular basis.
  • Covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
  • Keep proper social distancing of at least 6 feet, when possible.

Another IMPORTANT step is for you to take your temperature daily. We have linked a Symptom Checker for you to print out or save on your phone to track daily temperatures & symptoms for you and your family.  This is sometimes the first sign of COVID-19, and if you’ve been sick, it’s a good indicator of whether you’re healthy enough to return to work. If you have a consistent temperature of 99 degrees or higher, you should contact a doctor or Telemedicine. You should also self-quarantine under these circumstances.  Once you are sick, you should not return to work until you are “Fever Free” without medication for at least 72 hours.

We can’t emphasize enough how important it is to stay home, if you are sick.  Please contact your doctor or Telemedicine should you exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms, especially with a fever. If you are quarantined by a doctor or health department, please call your local HR Department to make them aware even if you are on lack of work or vacation. Your health is important to us, and we want to support you.

The health and safety of NAL’s Team Members and their families remains our top priority. We look forward to having everyone return to work in the near future. Please be safe in the meantime.

Best regards,

Kirk Gadberry
